The Rotary Club of South Hilo recently installed its new board of directors and new club president, Pat Aiona Jr., for 2016-17 during a celebration at the Naniloa Hotel’s Crown Room.
Aiona, vice president of Aiona Car Sales, comes from a family of Rotarians. His father is a long-standing member of the South Hilo club and his grandfather was once a Rotary president.
“This year’s Rotary theme is ‘Rotary Serving Humanity’ and I’m so incredibly grateful to have the opportunity to serve the club and our community in this way,” Aiona said. “Rotary gives us the ability to do far more good collectively than would ever be possible as an individual. And the friendships are amazing.”
The Rotary Club of South Hilo does a variety of service projects throughout the year and has for the past 11 years put on the popular Hilo Huli, which to date has raised more than $200,000 for charity.
The club has its lunch meeting at noon every Tuesday at the Hilo Hawaiian. For more information visit, www.rotarysouthilo.org.
